Aamir Khan’s home production Peepli[Live] has bagged its first award in the Best film category at the recently concluded 31st Durban International Film festival. The international jury has praised the film saying “Peepli Live is an ambitious and well-realised film that deals with serious political issues in a witty and entertaining manner. It creates an enchanting world of colourful characters, images and music that engrosses viewers throughout”. This film is about one of the most sensitive issue – the farmer’s suicide issue and the media and political response to the issue.
Aamir Khan was on cloud nine on hearing the news. He said “I think it’s really wonderful news that I got today. To get an award from such a distinguished jury leaves me very pleased for the team that we have won this honour”. Peepli[Live] will hit boxoffice on August 13.
